Today, we welcomed the Class of 2027 for Senior Orientation as they prepared for an exciting school year ahead. Students received valuable information about college applications, senior activities, graduation expectations, and other important milestones to help them start the year strong. To make the day even more special, every senior received school supplies, including clear backpacks, to ensure they're ready for success from day one! A heartfelt thank you to Hampton Lumber for generously providing clear backpacks for all of our scholars and to Chandler Law Firm for keeping everyone refreshed with snacks and beverages. Last call for our June Board/Community Meeting tonight at 6PM in the AFHS Multipurpose Room. We will be announcing recognitions our district has earned and reviewing the third version of our 2026-2027 budget. There will be updates from our Finance, Human Resources, and Curriculum departments as well as Superintendent Dr. Cave's monthly operational report. Lastly, we will confirm updates to our curriculum and discuss the progress of our facilities. Come out to stay up to date with our district.
Don't forget to attend our June Board/Community Meeting tomorrow evening at 6PM in the AFHS Multipurpose Room. Our board will discuss updates to our curriculum and recognize the district for its accomplishments. We will have the third reading of our budget and and hear reports from Finance, Curriculum, and Human Resources. Superintendent Dr. Cave will also be reviewing operational and facility updates as we undergo several construction projects and exciting initiatives ahead of next year. We are excited that with our partner, Optimum Foods, we are able to offer free summer meals to feed students in the Allendale Community. These multi-day meal packs will include both breakfast and lunch and are available until July 12th. Our JROTC students opened the ceremony with the presentation of the colors, marking a meaningful beginning to this special celebration. Throughout the ceremony, the AFMHS Chorus kept the audience engaged with several beautiful musical selections. Their performances added to the joy of the occasion and helped make the evening even more memorable for our graduates and their families. We are grateful to all of the students and staff that participated in this momentous occasion, and thank all of the family and friends who attended to support our scholars.
We were honored to hear from our graduates and administrators during the ceremony. Our Salutatorian, Zy'Nariah Rhodes spoke about the purpose and necessity of failures. Valedictorian Santos Milan, reflected on his journey and reminded us to be slow and steady like a turtle in order to win the race. Our Superintendent Dr. Vallerie Cave was immensely proud to confer the graduates as they head into the real world to pursue their aspirations.
Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2026! We commend you on your hard work, perseverance, and the many accomplishments that have brought you to this incredible milestone. We are proud of all you have achieved and look forward to watching you continue to grow, lead, and succeed in this next chapter of your lives. Though your time as students have come to an end, your place as Allendale-Fairfax alumni will last forever, because once a Tiger, always a Tiger!
